Des Moines University

Des Moines University (DMU) has recently announced that it will be constructing a 90-acre campus located in West Des Moines with plans to move campus operation by 2023. DMU is the Metro’s elite medical school and is one of the top 25 largest medical schools in the U.S. The programs offered at DMU include osteopathic medicine, health sciences, and podiatric medicine and surgery.

Project Based Learning Network

The West Des Moines Community School District has deployed a project-based learning program within its curriculum – the Project Based Learning Network. This curriculum is designed with the end-product in mind, starting with a concept and creating a group project that concept.

Van Meter Community School

Norwalk Work-Based Learning Program

Norwalk has implemented a Work-Based Learning program within its high school curriculum. The class includes a job shadow opportunity to to shadow a professional in their desired career field, resume review, interview skills, and appropriate workplace behaviors.

Winterset Community School

Through a partnership with Des Moines Area Community College and area school districts, WCSD is able to offer college credit courses in Certified Nursing Assistants, Medical Terminology, Building/Construction Trades, Engineering, and Emergency Medical Technician.

Waukee APEX

The Waukee Community School District has launched a nationally-recognized program to bring the business experience to the classroom – Waukee APEX. APEX draws on the expertise of business partners to bring real-world experience to high schoolers.
