West Des Moines Continues to Grow: 2025 Census Results Certified
The West Des Moines City Council has officially certified the results of the 2025 Special Partial Census, confirming the city’s steady growth.
The new certified population in the census area is 18,066 residents, bringing West Des Moines’ estimated total population to 73,959—a 7.6% increase since 2020.
This continued growth also has a tangible impact on city services. The increase is projected to generate an estimated $727,804 boost in Road Use Tax revenue for 2026, helping fund vital infrastructure improvements across the city, from roads and bridges to parks and public spaces.
